Internet Addiction Bootcamps

Concerns of rampant and unchecked internet addiction amongst the youth in China has seen a surge of internet addiction bootcamps mushrooming in the country. The treatments vary from family based therapy to bootcamp style training to electroshock therapy, and in all instances, these bootcamps are unregulated. Last month, a teenager died 48 hours after being forcefully sent to a bootcamp, sparking outrage and calls for the Chinese government to regulate such centres. We speak to Trent Bax about the whole notion of internet addiction and the effects these harsh practices have had on the kids who are sent against their will.
