Under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act, an individual found to be flouting the MCO can be imprisoned for up to two years, fined or both. However some are concerned that harsh punishments might be counterproductive to the Covid-19 response.While some politicians both local and abroad have been criticised for their handling of the Covid-19 crisis, others have risen to the occasion, benefiting their political standing.
