On Friday, the Federal Court dismissed an appeal by an 11-year-old boy to obtain Malaysian citizenship, saying that he was "illegitimate" at his time of birth. He was born to a Malaysian father and a Filipino mother. We examine the verdict and talk about whether our citizenship laws need to be changed to better protect the rights of children.
