Alienation of the Artist as a Young Man

The book for discussion is ‘Catcher in the Rye’ by JD Salinger, and Holden Caulfield is our young hero who struggles growing up, desiring both his desire for isolation and his desire for a meaningful connection. He feels the contradictions and attempts to navigate between them, just as much as he tries to resolve his what he criticizes in others and what he sees himself guilty of.
