CERN, also known The European Organization for Nuclear Research, operated the largest particle physics laboratory in the world. The LHC, or the Large Hadron Collider, is the world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator and is the latest addition to CERN’s accelerator complex. The LHC consists of a 27-kilometre ring of superconducting magnets with a number of accelerating structures to boost the energy of the particles along the way. Simply put, this is The World’s Greatest Experiment. We speak to Dr Harry Cliff, particle physicist at the University of Cambridge and at the Large Hadron Collider to find out what is The World’s Greatest Experiment all about.
