The Geeks talk about a test for underwater "wi-fi" using sound waves, the same concept used by dolphins and whales. And for all you Skype users, beware! Microsoft will disable all Skype recordings plug-ins come December 2013 and speaking of Microsoft, Windows 8.1 update is out now. Moving along to Google, the geeks talked about how a young boy from India that was lost from home and adopted by an Australian family reunites with his birth mother thanks to Google Maps.
And although Google played the 'Good Cop' in that story, they are certainly playing 'Bad Cop' with their update on the Terms & Conditions that allows them to use your personal data on Google+ for Google Ads. By default, you are already opt in to the service so Google has the rights to use your name and your profile picture for their Google Ads. How do you opt out from this? Here's a step by step.
1) Go to google.com/settings and sign in to your Google account if you haven't sign in yet.
2) At the right hand corner of your browser, click on "Google+" and under "Shared Endorsements" click on edit.
3) Scroll to the bottom and you should see a ✓ at the "Based upon my activity, Google may show my name and profile photo in shared endorsements that appear in ads". Untick that and click save.
4) Click on "Save" and click on "Continue".
5) Now you're all done! Congrats!
