Coping with rising demands on fish due to the increasing population, aquaculture seems to be a sustainable solution as it has grown at a compound rate of 10% for each of the past 10 years and turns out to be the fastest food production sector. In Msia alone, per capita per capita consumption counts to 52kg vs. 22kg for EU countries. 70% of the World’s fisheries are fully fished, so the “supply gap” between natural catch and global consumption will widen (as population increases). In Malaysia waters, we have reached a maximum wild catch yield of 1.5 million tonnes per year for past 3-years smaller fish, limited species, 30% thrash. Mohamed Razali Mohamed, CEO of Aquagrow Corporation Sdn Bhd, talks about its recirculating system hatcheries, offshore cage culture, retailing, branding, processing factories and live fish transport.
