The number of women entrepreneurs in Malaysia has increased in the past three decades as a result of emphasis on industrialisation, self-employment and business-oriented employment, according to the International Academic Research Journal of Business and Technology (2015). Although there is a positive progress in gender composition locally, we still hear cases on gender inequality, especially when it comes to equal salary, opportunities, roles, lack of formal gender diversity policies and practices in place, among others.
