On January 1st 2021, new amendments to the Industrial Relations Act 1967 (IRA 1967) came into force. They affect unfair dismissal cases, direct appeals against Industrial Court awards and harsher penalties for non-compliance of awards, among others. These amendments have not been well received by some parties, as they may put employers at a disadvantage.
