Edgar Pushparatnam Senior Vice President, Technip Asia Pacific and Managing Director, Technip Malaysia, kicks off by de-mystifying the business, then delves into its history, years in business, reputation, investment in AsiaFlex and flexible pipemaking as the first in the AP region and as a springboard into Asia.


He also chats about its involvement in Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering, the newly listed Petronas unit, the reasons for taking a stake and what the Petronas majority ownership meand to the JV.


He also discusses Petronas’ prolific spending programme, expected to be a massive RM24bil over the next one-to-two years and where this spending will be centered, how deepwater areas will account for Malaysia’s oil output by 2020,  and what this mean for players like Technip and MMHE.


He also discusses new feepwater fields like Gumusut Kakap, which will commence production in 2012, the next deepwater fields to be developed will be at Malikai, off Sabah and Kebabangan, off Sarawak. and how he rates the potential of these fields.


He also chats about their expertise in ultra-deep waters, extreme climates, mega-sized projects, non-conventional resources and optimization of environmental performance -- and details why this is important today.

He also discusses how Asia is only 12 percent of Technip's Group revenues today and how important its partnership with Petronas - MHE is in trying to expand this.
